Science Technology Engineering Math (STEM)

Teachers at Bowdon Middle School are currently working towards District Level STEM Certification.  Why STEM certification?  STEM is the idea of educating students in an interdisciplinary and applied approach.  Rather than teach as separate and discrete subjects, STEM integrates content material into a cohesive learning paradigm based on real world applications.  At Bowdon Middle School, we are using STEM to promote a culture of creative thinking.

Students at Bowdon Middle have the opportunity to participate in an exclusive STEM class offered through their connections classes. This year our students, under the direction of Mrs. Jeanette Brooks, participated in the 2nd Annual Carroll County Technology Fair with many of those students moving forward to compete at the district level.  Two of our students placed first in robotics at the regional level and will be competing at the state level.  Our students also compete in the Science Bowl held at Carrollton High School.
