Bowdon Middle Names Chip Stephens Teacher of the Year

Mr. Chip Stephens was recently selected by the faculty and staff of Bowdon Middle School as its 2017-2018 Teacher of the Year.  He is in his sixth year of teaching science and his second at Bowdon Middle teaching life science.  He previously taught at Heard County Middle School and Long Cane Middle School in Troup County.  

Mr. Stephens grew up in Franklin, Georgia and is a graduate of Heard County High School.  He earned his bachelor's degree in Middle Grades Education from Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, GA.  Mr. Stephens also coaches the cross country team at Bowdon Middle School and proudly served in the United States Army.  

Mr. Stephens enjoys beekeeping and currently has 8 hives of bees. He is married to Marti Stephens and resides in Bowdon. Mr. Stephens' favorite thing about teaching is seeing "the light bulb click on" on his students' faces, especially after they have struggled to get a new concept or understand an idea.
